Packing Guide: Caribbean Holiday
Especially around this time of year, the islands are warm, with high humidity and sudden rainstorms, so I’m packing with all of that in mind. Here are a few of the items I plan on bringing and a few others I wish I could.
I’ll also be bringing this book and this camera with me.
*Normally I wouldn’t suggest bringing clothes or accessories that could get ruined in rain to a place that is known for impromptu storms, but some of these items are too cute to pass up (especially the suede espadrilles, which I already own in black).
DO:
Pack light; It’s hot in the caribbean and you don’t want to lug heavy gear unnecessarily.
Remember to bring bug spray if you’re prone to bug bites & sunscreen for both your face and body
Pack a sweater or jacket for chilly nights
Bring plenty of swim suits; I suggest at least one more than you think you’ll need.
DON’T:
Forget to plan out your outfits in advance so you don’t overpack
Underestimate the island sun — additionally, don’t lose track of how much sun you’re getting
Bring uncomfortable clothes or shoes because you won’t end up wearing them for long, if at all
Also, you’ll notice that a lot of the items are from J. Crew; I think they make some of the best summer clothing, especially considering their prices and frequent sales.
Lastly, I’ve ordered a few of these to help with packing in a small, carry-on luggage. I’ve never used them before, but I’ve read great reviews and they have been recommended to me numerous times. I’m planning on taking an older version of this suitcase, as well as this bag as my personal item. I’ve even ordered these and these to stash in my bag, so I can munch on something refreshing (and healthier) during the flight. These are only a few of the outfits I’m planning on bringing, but I hope this gives a good overview of the type of items I think are needed for a trip to the Caribbean.
Let me know what’s a must on your packing list!
